Israeli forces kill Palestinian teenager in Bethlehem

During an Israeli army operation on the Dheisheh refugee camp near Bethlehem, in the occupied West Bank, 15-year-old Adam Ayyad was slain.

Ramallah, West Bank, under occupation - A Palestinian youngster was shot and killed by the Israeli army during a raid on Bethlehem in the southern part of the occupied West Bank.

The 15-year-old Adam Issam Shaker Ayyad was died on Tuesday morning after being shot in the chest, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
The murder occurred during an Israeli army operation on the Dheisheh refugee camp that started before daybreak and involved numerous armoured vehicles, following which young Palestinian Palestinians engaged in altercations. Local media reports that during the operation, Israeli forces detained a number of locals.

The assassination was called a "heinous crime of execution" by the Palestinian foreign ministry, which also claimed that Israel's continuous impunity "encourages them to commit crimes against our children."

The statement stated, "It is part of Israel's targeting of Palestinian children generally and a continuation of the pattern of extrajudicial killings."

The Israeli army claimed that during the clashes, "a number of Palestinians threw Molotov cocktails at them, adding that suspects were hit."
As a result of an ongoing Israeli military operation of stepped-up raids and killings that has lasted almost a year, Ayyad is the third Palestinian to be assassinated by Israel since the start of the new year.

Two individuals were murdered by Israeli forces on Monday during a raid on the Jenin neighbourhood of Kufr Dan in the northernly occupied West Bank.

The second Intifada, or Palestinian revolt, ended in 2005, and according to the United Nations, 2022 was the worst year for Palestinians in the occupied West Bank in 16 years.

On December 29, a new Israeli government, reportedly the most right-wing in the nation's 74-year history, took power.
